No, you do not need a GP referral to see a private cardiologist. You can book directly with Dr Balerdi as a self-paying patient, or through private medical insurance (where your insurer may require a referral). With your consent, we always send a comprehensive report to your GP.
We pride ourselves on rapid access. Most appointments can be scheduled within 1 week, and urgent cases can often be seen within 48 hours, depending on timing and location. Our goal is to provide timely cardiac assessment when you need it most. We are not an emergency assessment service though.

We provide comprehensive cardiac assessments. This including consultations, ECGs, echocardiograms, stress testing, 24-hour heart monitoring, blood tests and blood pressure monitoring, CT calcium scoring, and CT coronary angiograms. All procedures are non-invasive that we provide. We also specialise in surveillance, of all cardiac conditions, from short term frequent monitoring needed in heart failure or heart disease in pregnancy, to longer term valve conditions, to life long inherited cardiac conditions and congenital heart disease. Where we don't provide what your looking for directly, we are happy to refer on to local or national experts.
Prices vary by service: consultations from £165, ECG from £80, echocardiograms from £350. We provide transparent pricing upfront with no hidden costs. Contact us for a quote.
All our procedures are non-invasive and generally painless. You may feel slight pressure during an echocardiogram or mild exertion during stress testing, but these are well-tolerated by most patients. We'll explain everything beforehand.
Appointment duration varies by service: consultations (30 mins), ECG (10 mins), echocardiograms (45 mins), stress tests (45 mins). We'll always give you the time needed and never rush your care.
We accept self-payment (card, cash, or bank transfer) and work with all major private medical insurance providers including Bupa, AXA, Aviva, Cigna, The Exeter and WPA, and Vitality. You will need to verify your insurance coverage before your appointment and provide us with authorisation code and policy number. We would love to be able to do that for you, but because it's your policy, the companies simply wont talk to us directly
Most private medical insurance policies cover cardiac investigations when medically necessary.You'll need check your coverage and obtain authorisation before your appointment. Some policies may require GP referral. There is often an excess that you will need to pay also. All of these are individual to your policy
Most procedures require minimal preparation. We'll send detailed instructions with your appointment confirmation. Generally, wear comfortable clothing and bring a list of current medications. Specific tests may have additional requirements.
Where the answers are not available there and then, Results are typically available within 24-72 hours. We'll discuss initial findings immediately after your procedure, and comprehensive written reports are sent to you and your GP (with consent) within 48hrs.
We will look after you. If we identify any concerns or abnormal results, we'll discuss them with you immediately and arrange appropriate follow-up care and testing. This might include additional tests, specialist referral, or urgent communication with your GP or other specialist.
We share letters, reports and test results through Semble, the secure computer system we use to store your medical notes. When we share a document with you, you will receive an email from Semble on our behalf. Open the email, click the View Document button, and confirm your identity by entering your date of birth - or, if we hold your mobile number, a 6-digit code sent to you by text message. You will then see every document we have shared with you, newest first, and can read, print or save them.

If you still cannot get in, for example the code by text message does not arrive, contact us at info@rookeryhealthcare.com or call your usual clinic and we will re-send the document or talk you through it.
